Details
This Spanish Syrah can seriously salsa! It's a peppery little number, which is one of our favourite telltales of a good Syrah! Leading with smoky spices and a lift of violet, it dances across the palate with flavours of mulberry and plum. Generous tannins give the wine direction but without pulling attention away from its fruit flavours. Savoury, peppery, and absolutely delicious.

Origin: The first recognised wines were made in the Rhone Valley and south-eastern France. Mainly Grown In: One of the world’s leading grapes, it is found in France, Australia, the USA, Argentina and South Africa. Key Facts: Syrah (Shiraz) is a world-beater. Starting small in the southern reaches of France, it has spread to all corners of the world, and is known for producing some of the world’s great red wines, capable of perfume, power and persistence. Local versions are luscious and fruity, loaded with plum, raisin and plenty of oaky richness. European expressions however can be more savoury and tend towards flavours of olive, black cherry and pepper. Both are equally delicious, and are simply a matter of taste! Fun Fact: There are many faces to Syrah, but typically when grown in a cooler area, it will display more lavender and peppery notes. Where as when from a warm climate, more juicy even jammy fruit.

Pairing guide
This deeply-flavourful Syrah really bursts with deep fruit flavours, and has the kind of structure and balance that makes it ideal for pairing with punchy ingredients and some seriously tasty dinners. As with all Syrah, this one loves chargrilled meat - especially fattier cuts like spare ribs, sirloin, and juicy chops. It’s also going to be great with classic Mediterranean flavours - garlic, olives, herbs de Provence, and roasted capsicum and eggplant - and with homemade burgers, leg of lamb, and other hearty, meaty dishes.
