Details
Soave is one of the main white wine regions of Veneto, which is the region Venice is home to. Garnagega is the variety used in Souve and the best way to say this is to pronounce each letter and say it with the hands too! The wine itself is a great summer tipple with zesty lemon and fleshy nectarine, a touch of green herbs and crushed rocks. Fresh and fruity on the palate and ideal by the pool with a bowl of fruit.

Monte Ronca is a renowned Soave producer located in the commune of Ronca in the heart of Garganega country – the variety from which it is made! The winery is owned by the Soave erudite himself, Antonio Fattori. Antonio sources Gargenega from an organically farmed site called Monte Calvarino, located on steep hills, (and never the warm valley floors!) just north of the commune. At 680m above sea level, the cool site provides an ideal environment for single-site Soave. The ancient volcanic soils produce low-yielding fruit, which is hand-harvest. In the cellar, Antonio performs appassimento, a traditional technique to concentrate colours, aromas and flavours, followed by gentle lees stirring and subtle oak ageing to build rich texture and complexity into the wine. POV. You’re in Monte Calvarino vineyard right now, in awe of the panoramic views, Verona to the east and Vicenza and even Venice to the west. Except, it’s just a 1000-piece puzzle, and you’re thousands of kilometres away! Allora, if that’s the best you can do, you may as well enjoy it with authentic Soave, ‘Cin-cin!’

Pairing guide
We’re massive fans of top-notch Garganega at Good Pair Days, and this bottle from Monte Ronca was right up our street. It’s going to pair beautifully with richer fish and seafood dishes - clams, barramundi, Moreton Bay bug, lobster and crab especially - as well as with creamy chicken or pork preparations. Coconut-based curries, buttery pasta, and anything with chives, tarragon and other aromatic herbs will hit the spot.
