Details
The jester is always the life of the party, and this lively Sangiovese rosé from Mitolo is guaranteed to be popular. It smells of berries in a glass of soda water, with lovely pink fruit and a light frame. It's lively (like a jester should be), with a crisp, dry and refreshing sort of shape that makes it entirely delicious day or night.
Frank Mitolo's influences in the world of wine stem from his Italian grandfather, Bruno - a lifelong viticulturist (wine grower and vineyard expert) who arrived in Australia with farming in his blood at the tender age of 14. All the way from Abruzzo, Bruno brought with him an ethos from his homeland, “forte e gentile”, or strong and gentle, forging his new life in South Australia's McLaren Vale and establishing Mitolo Family Farms. This became a 'world-class' fresh produce business, and his love for wine continued through to his son, who not only loved wine but passed this love to his son - Frank. Frank made small-batch wines for years before a chance meeting with famed winemaker Ben Glaetzer, which saw a long lunch, and Frank's passion evolved into a partnership with Ben. Fast forward to today, and the recognisable label of Mitolo is one of familiarity and quality - a fully-fledged and successful commercial wine business. The dream was only ever to create the ultimate expression of McLaren Vale’s terroir, with a singular vision – to make wines inspired by the great Italian producers that they loved to drink.

Pairing guide
Bursting with elegant soft fruit flavours and a delicious brightness on the palate, this delightful pink wine from Mitolo is right up there with our favourites this month. If you’re on the lookout for perfect dishes to pair with this bottle, we’d recommend anything featuring smoked salmon, prawns, and salty ingredients like green olives, capers, anchovies and feta cheese. Pork chops with a lemon and herb dressing, stuffed chicken breast, medium Indian curries and pasta with fresh tomato and plenty of green herbs would also hit the spot perfectly.
