Details
A taut, grassy Riesling loaded with lime and lemongrass. It's almost Semillon-like in its tanginess, but broadens out on the back palate. Has some oiliness, but is clean, light and easy drinking. Very fresh and easy to enjoy - delightful Riesling.
Mitchelton is a Victorian wine icon - a vineyard site imbued with history, a suite of wines that span varieties and styles, and a winery that encompasses art, hospitality and all round excellence. The site’s history stretches back to 1836, when the explorer Major Thomas Mitchell (the winery's namesake) crossed the river here on his 900 kilometre journey from Sydney to Melbourne. Victorian wine pioneer Colin Preece was instrumental in planting the first vines in 1969, at the behest of the winery's first owner Ross Shelmerdine. The wines seem to go from strength to strength here - a focus on fruit and energy is the thread that links them all together. Everything is done with quality in mind, and a visit here is nothing short of spectacular. Whilst a well known name, the quality is perhaps sometimes overlooked in the local wine scene. We think that should change, and after tasting the wines, we think you will too!

Pairing guide
It’s no secret that we’re massive Riesling fans here, and this gorgeous bottle from Mitchelton really hits the high notes when it comes to balance, flavour, and freshness. It’s going to be a fabulous pairing for all your favourite spicy southeast Asian curries, especially Thai green curries and anything with the fiery punch of Sichuan peppercorns. Chicken and tofu satay dishes will hit the spot perfectly, as will pretty much any white fish, grilled chicken, or breaded pork dish, or leafy green salad with a zesty dressing.

Wine region

Nagambie, Australia
Nagambie is the iconic sub region of Goulburn Valley, which is known for more than just ‘Peaches, Mangoes, Peaches,’ as the wine that comes out of this region is of amazing quality as well. The region has areas that have been producing wine since the mid 1800s and is known for producing high quality Shiraz, Cabernet Sauvignon and Chardonnay as well as becoming iconic for rhone varieties like Marsanne, Roussanne and Viognier. Here you will find the equally iconic wineries of Tahbilk and Mitchelton which has given Nagambie official sub-region status.
