Details
A wonderfully aromatic dessert wine, made from hand picked botrytis-affected Semillon grapes grown in the Leasingham region of the Clare Valley. This shows off very classic honey and marmalade flavours - very concentrated sweet fruit, balanced by crisp acid on a lingering luscious finish. Delicious.
Mitchell is a family-owned winery with over 70 years of history in the Clare Valley. Wine runs deep in the veins here - three generations of winemakers on the same patch of dirt, each year toiling to bring to life the most expressive wines from their land. We are wine enthusiasts, committed innovators and connoisseurs, dedicated to the art of winemaking. From founder Peter McNicol Mitchell’s modest beginnings in 1949, to Andrew and Jane’s business nous and passion for winemaking that they now share with the next generation of Mitchell Wines, their three children, Hilary, Angus and Edwina. Under Andrew and Jane Mitchell’s watchful eyes, the business has grown, incorporating more vineyards and a more modern winery. This has gone hand in hand with a return to more sustainable vineyard practices, eliminating all artificial pesticides and herbicides and utilising responsible water conservation. This has encouraged biodiversity and promotes intense flavours and characteristics in the grapes. All in all, a win all round, and a great step forward for this winery steeped in history.

Pairing guide
We’re pretty big fans of botrytised wines here at Good Pair Days - a historic winemaking method that sees the grapes wither on the vine, intensifying the sugars and bringing out a beautiful array of honeyed flavours. This type of dessert wine works beautifully with dishes featuring roasted nuts or grilled fruit - roast pineapple and peaches works particularly well - as well as with caramelised apples or dark chocolate with orange. It’s also absolutely gorgeous with strong blue cheeses, so keep an open mind when it comes to matching contrasting flavours!
