Details
Upfront and immediately vibrant in cherries and juicy fruits and a hint of citrus peel. The nose is really very charming, with roses, violets and fresh brewed black tea. So much to love about the palate, it's soft and juicy, yet fine and long. Not tannic at all, just lightly framed and lovely.
Imagine yourself sitting out on a balcony in the Italian sun, from the highest point overlooking the quilted tapestry of lush green vineyards of the Langhe, with hilltops dotted with castles, and a glass of fine red wine. You could be sitting at Mauro Molino, a small family owned estate in the La Morra region of Piedmont. The humble producer make very fine wines, including Barolo, that are all about tradition, elegance and understatement. They are not chasing wine awards here, instead, the wine they make is reflective of the highest quality vineyards they work with. The youngest generation run the estate - Matteo Molino and his younger sister Martina, have taken over the reins from their father, Mauro, who took over from his father in the early 1970s. Since then, the young sibling team have guided Molino into new international markets travelling to places like Australia, allowing people to discover their impeccable wines made as sustainably as possible.

Pairing guide
Oh yes please! This delicious Barbera d’Alba really delivers when it comes to flavour, aroma, and overall scrumptiousness, and we’ve really enjoyed bringing it to the dining table alongside some seriously tasty dishes. It’s dreamy with chicken thigh casseroles, deeply flavourful beef mince ragu, Pot au Feu, beef wellington, and any combo of rich tomato sauce and red meat. It’s also going to work brilliantly with roasted veggies sprinkled with parmesan, braised greens, and blue cheeses - gorgeous!

Wine region

Piedmont, Italy
The Piedmont wine region in Italy is a magical place known for producing world-class wines. The region is bordered by the Alps to the north and the Apennine Mountains to the south, and it is characterized by rolling hills and a diverse landscape. The climate in Piedmont is generally cool and wet, with warm, dry summers and cold, snowy winters. This climate is well-suited to grape growing offering slow and steady ripening conditions which lead to high-quality and expressive wines. Piedmont is most praised for its red wines, particularly Barolo and Barbaresco, which are made from the Nebbiolo grape. Barbera and Dolcetto are other celebrated reds of the region, and as for its white wines, Arneis, Moscato d'Asti and the rare Nascetta. Piedmont is also famous for its flavorful truffles, often used in local dishes, and pair beautiful with its regional wines.
