Details
A flighty wine - starts smoky and serious, but turns fragrant with a good swirl. Plenty of wild strawberry and orange peel hiding in there. Zesty and textured palate, with good tension and energy. Fresh, easy to understand, clean and dry.
The Bodega of Mattias Riccitelli is, in many ways, the quintessential modern Argentine winery. Working with vineyards situated 1100 metres above sea level, crawling their way up the foothills of the Andes, Riccitelli is determined to further explore the potential of Argentina’s premium wine regions, and uncover the true nature of this remarkable terroir. However, while so many of the wineries working in the Mendoza region are looking to expand and automate much of their operation, Riccitelli is enthused by an altogether different approach. His method of winemaking puts enormous emphasis on attention to detail, hand-harvesting the grapes to maintain the integrity of the bunches, and working with the lowest possible yields to ensure absolute expression in every glass. Concrete vats are utilised for maturation, guaranteeing crispness and uninterrupted fruit flavours on the palate, and the stunning diversity of the soil types in the mountainous region is kept in mind every single step of the way. All in all, Mattias Riccitelli demonstrates that the Argentine wine scene - having already ascended so quickly over the past two decades - can still reach ever greater heights of excellence.

Pairing guide
We love a great rosé wine here at Good Pair Days, and this little beauty from Mattias Riccitelli definitely fits the bill. It’s going to be absolutely stunning with fresh salads, grilled fish, chicken breast dishes, pies, pastries, and quiches, and pretty much anything you’d want to eat al fresco on a hot and sunny day. It’s also a top pairing for tomato-based pasta dishes, risottos, pates, and charcuterie, and will work just as well with a few sausages chucked on the barbecue, or smoked salmon rillettes or a homemade pizza!

Mendoza, Argentina
Mendoza is Argentina's premier wine region which is located in the foothills of the Andes mountains. Mendoza is located 1000 km inland from Buenos Aires and is closer to Santiago, the capital of Chile. The region is famed for Malbec, which accounts for 20% of the variety planted in the country, yet also produces high quality Cabernet Sauvignon, Chardonnay and the native grape variety, Torrontés.
