Details
Named Mongris from ‘Mono-variety Gris’, referring to Pinot Gris (aka Grigio), this is simply one of the best versions produced. Grown in mineral-rich but poor soils, this is a complex and well-structured wine that shines in the glass; it’s resplendent with aromas of white flowers and freshly cut apples and pears, and has fruit ripeness, texture from time on lees, and lovely linear acidity that finishes chalky and long.
The Collio in Friuli-Venezia Giulia is a land with a deep-rooted vocation for viticulture. Marco Felluga tells the story of a family that, for six generations, has been passing on and cultivating its passion for wine. The family’s history can be traced back more than 160 years ago, to Istria in Croatia, with Michele Felluga the first to make wine the family business. This vinous path was significantly taken forward by his son Marco, a pioneer of modern viticulture, who expanded into Friuli. It was then continued with love and entrepreneurship by Roberto and Ilaria Felluga, supporters of sustainable and high-quality winemaking. Roberto, the fifth-generation winemaker, has always based his work and approach on sustainability; adopting innovative processes, supported by national and international research, aimed at the production of high-quality, age-worthy white and red wines with reduced environmental impact; integrated pest control; natural fertilizers to take care of the vineyards and the Collio’s ecosystem, and respect for the land, its history and traditions.

Pairing guide
Everybody loves a great Pinot Grigio, and Marco Felluga is a name you can seriously rely on when it comes to this most popular of white varieties. This wine is going to pair brilliantly with all spring vegetable dishes - peas and snow peas, asparagus and leafy greens will work very nicely indeed - and equally well with grilled oily fish, seafood pasta creations, and salads of squid, prawns, and other marine delights. Roast chicken and chicken breast dishes will be lovely, and it can handle a bit of chilli heat too, making it ideal for spicy southeast Asian curries.

Wine region

Friuli, Italy
Friuli is a wine region located in the northeastern part of Italy, near the border with Slovenia. The region is known for producing a variety of wine styles, including white, red, and sparkling wines. The white wines of Friuli are often made from grape varieties such as Pinot Grigio, Sauvignon Blanc, and Chardonnay, and are known for their crisp, aromatic character. Friuli is also home to a number of indigenous grape varieties, such as Tocai Friulano and Ribolla Gialla, which are used to produce distinctive white wines. The red wines of Friuli are typically made from grape varieties such as Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, and Refosco, and are known for their elegance and finesse. Friuli has a unique climate, with cool nights and warm days, which helps to preserve the acidity in the grapes and produces wines with a refreshing character.
