Details
This is a bit of a fruit salad of a wine, both in its make-up and its flavour profile! Made from a blend of Sauvignon Blanc and Chardonnay, it offers aromas of barley sugar and peach, backed up by plenty of pear, almond and lemon cordial. Zippy and fresh, it has a silky texture and is a little too easy to drink. Pam likes to Party!
Melissa and Simon Roe are the force behind Manyara. After a stint of some 20 years or so in Asia, they settled upon the elevated area of Balhannah in the Adelaide Hills to make their future. Simon had an early introduction to the wine world growing up around the vines of the Riverland where his family worked in the industry making wine. With the intrigue and allure of the wine world early ensconced in his mind, the opportunity to acquire Manyara was taken up quickly by the Roe family. Historically, prior to becoming a winery and vineyards, the property was horse training ground before the true potential was realised. Found just outside of Adelaide, in the cooler Hills region, the night time temperature fluctuations bring ideal conditions for growing top quality fruit. They focus on Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, Shiraz, Pinot Noir and a few other varieties. These vines were planted in the early nineties which, at this age, provide real concentration of flavour and controlled elegance in the resulting fruit.

Pairing guide
This delicious orange wine from the ever-reliable Manyara is sure to put a smile on your face, showcasing the unique crispness and character that only a quality skin-contact wine can deliver in spades. We love this bottle with Lebanese, Israeli and Moroccan flavours - chickpeas, couscous, coriander and lemon aplenty - and it’s also great with robust salads of root vegetables, grains and herbs. Grilled chicken, rare rack of lamb and confit duck will also be excellent here, as will a hotpot of butter beans and leafy greens. Fantastic!

Wine region

Adelaide Hills, Australia
The Adelaide Hills wine region, located in South Australia's Mount Lofty Ranges
of South Australia is characterised by its high altitude, cool climate, and diverse soils, which all contribute to the unique terroir that produces elegant, complex, and expressive wines. The region's altitude ranges from 400 to 700 meters above sea level, creating a cooler climate than other wine regions in South Australia. The cool temperatures slow down the ripening process of the grapes, resulting in wines with high acidity, delicate aromatics, and elegant flavours. Top sub-regions are Lenswood, Piccadilly Valley, and Basket Range, each with unique microclimates and diverse soil types that produce singular wine styles, the highlights are Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, Shiraz and a whole lot more!
