Details
This is classic and fun Uco/Mendoza Malbec with notes of raspberry, red cherry, dark berries and blackcurrant and notes of milk chocolate and liquorice over hints of pepper and cedar. Proper iron fist in a velvet glove this, with a smooth and inviting palate, then whammo with tannin grip, finishing with a slightly smoky, toasted flavour. Top stuff from the top of the world!

Malbicho is produced by the experienced team at Grappe in Maipu, Mendoza, who specialises in partnering with well-known winemakers to produce innovative wines offering something a little bit different. The grapes are picked from vineyards in the Uco Valley, the highest and coolest region in Mendoza, where the cool nights counteract the warm days and lengthen the growing season, allowing grapes to be picked when perfectly ripe. Combine that with well-drained soils and access to fresh Andes meltwater for irrigation, and you have the perfect conditions for the flagship Malbec grape. The word ‘Malbicho’ comes from the Argentinian slang known as Lunfardo, loosely meaning a free thinker who has unconventional attitudes, is not governed by the dictates of tradition and is unafraid of change. Here’s cheers to that for a positive growth mindset!

Wine region
Uco Valley, Argentina
The Uco Valley is arguably home to some of Argentina's finest wine producers. This sub-region is part of the wider region of Mendoza, the premier wine-growing region in the country. Uco is slightly more unique that the rest of the region due to its higher-altitude vineyards. This often leads to wine styles with a little more balance and restraint, and they often come in with more florality than their lower-altitude counterparts. The region has seen significant investment over the years, and some of the world's household wine names now own vineyards in these parts.
