Details
Burgundy is known as the spiritual home of both Pinot Noir and Chardonnay, as some of the world's most exciting, historical and complex wines from these varieties come from there. This is a great example - rich, fresh and very moreish. Filled with flavours of white peach, tangerine and lemon curd, it's beautifully balanced - rich but fresh. Great stuff.

Origin: Burgundy, in eastern France. Mainly Grown In: France, USA, Australia, Italy, Chile, South Africa, Argentina, Spain, NZ… all over, really! Key Facts: Chardonnay is one flexible, sassy grape. It grew up in a place called Burgundy in France, and has travelled to California, Australia, other parts of France, South America....all over the world basically. It can be zesty and fresh in cooler climates, and richer and creamier in warmer ones. It's also one of the few white varieties that performs just as well when treated with oak as it does without. This winemaking change can also affect the body and texture of the wine, leading to a totally different drinking experience. So remember, not all Chardonnays are alike, but we've picked only the best ones for you :) Fun Fact: The most iconic regions for Chardonnay in Australia are Margaret River in Western Australia, and Yarra Valley in Victoria.

Wine region
Burgundy, France
Burgundy is located east between Paris and the Swiss border and is known for producing some of the finest and most sought-after wines (Chardonnay and Pinot Noir) in the world. The region can be divided into the following sub-regions from north to south: Chablis, Côte d'Or, Côte Chalonnaise, and Mâconnais, with parts Beaujolais to the south now under consideration. Chablis is located north of the Côte d'Or and is known for its crisp, dry white wines made from Chardonnay, made without the influence of oak. Some of the best domaines in Chablis include William Fèvre and Christian Moreau. The Côte d'Or is the heart of the Burgundy wine region and is divided into two main areas: the Côte de Nuits and the Côte de Beaune. The Côte de Nuits is known for its red wines, while the Côte de Beaune is known for its white wines. The best domaines in the Côte d'Or include Domaine de la Romanée-Conti and Domaine Georges Roumier! Mâconnais and often overlooked Côte Chalonnaise produces red and white wines. Some of the best domaines in these regions include Domaine Bouchard Père et Fils and Domaine Jean-Jacques Girard.
