Details
Thomas White has ventured away from his home vineyard at Marananga in the Barossa Valley for this delicious Riesling, tapping into two old blocks at Springton & the Flaxman Valley (both in the cool Eden Valley region). Super aromatic, with all sorts of lemongrass, lime and jasmine aromas with a little Turkish Delight, this has a surprising amount of generosity - it's just a flavour ride of ripe citrus before a super crisp finish.
Named after a single, lonely palm tree next to the original cottage built in the 1800s, Lone Palm Vineyard is a seven-hectare plot of Shiraz planted in the heart of red wine country in the western Barossa. Here, surrounded by famous Shiraz and Grenache vineyards, Thomas White crafts luscious, full-bodied reds (and the odd tasty white wine) from his own grapes, plus those of trusted growers across the Barossa. Importantly, winemaking here is done slowly, in the traditional Barossan way. That means open fermentation, basket pressing and extended maturation in barrel, all to help make the most silken reds you can think of. Oh, and don't miss Thomas' Eden Valley Riesling - crafted from vines high up in the chilly Eden Valley, it's a ridiculously fresh white for drinking now or in two decades time.

Pairing guide
You can always rely on a good bottle of Riesling to deliver food-pairing perfection, and this release from Lone Palm Vineyard is no exception. All that freshness, zippiness and balance makes it the ideal match for curried dishes, especially coriander fish curry, Thai green curry recipes and chicken with cumin, ginger and garlic. Vietnamese summer rolls, satay skewers, Sichuan chilli rice or noodles and other southeast Asian dishes will do a brilliant job here, and it’s also great with green vegetables, simple seafood creations and roast poultry. Fantastic!
