Details
Sourced from the famous Malakoff Vineyard in western Victoria's Pyrenees, this light, bright and adventurous minimal intervention red throws a whole different shade to what Aussie Syrah/Shiraz should taste like. Inspired by the bright reds of the Loire in France, this is a juicy and purple-fruited wine with such energy and life, carried along with a whole spice cabinet of Pyrenees flavour and finishing with life-affirming tannins.
After a five-year-long apprenticeship working in Australia and France at the likes of Toolangi Vineyards, Mount Mary Vineyard, Little Reddie, Place of Changing Winds, Alice & Olivier De Moor, winemaker Tim has given birth to his wine label baby, Lo Havoc. As Tim says, his fine wine internship has helped develop a 'detailed appreciation for the necessity of good, honest and ethical farming and sustainability across all aspects of production', now turned into delicious lo-fi wines under this solo project. Drawing on fruit from across his native Victorian wine regions, you can expect the Lo Havoc wines to be bright, light, approachable, minimal intervention styles of detail and, above all else, fun.

Pairing guide
The team at Lo Havoc really impressed us with this characterful and deeply flavoured Syrah, which perfectly captures the beauty and complexity of their wonderful terroir. All that dark fruit flavour calls for dishes featuring slow-cooked red meat - beef shin, brisket and other cheaper cuts are especially recommended - in red wine gravy with caramelised onions, aromatic herbs and other savoury delights. Lamb casserole, French cassoulet with beans and garlic sausage, confit duck legs and roast eggplant, zucchini and capsicum are also highly recommended with this beautiful red!

Wine region

Pyrenees, Australia
The Pyrenees wine region is located in the state of Victoria in Australia. It is known for producing a range of high-quality red and white wines, particularly Shiraz and Chardonnay. The region is named after the Pyrenees mountain range, which forms its eastern boundary. The wine-growing area extends from the town of Avoca in the north to Moonambel in the south and is situated at an altitude of between 200 and 600 meters above sea level. The region's cool climate and diverse soil types are well-suited to grape growing and contribute to the unique character of the wines produced here.
Cool fact: the region is home to the "Big Red," a life-sized sculpture of a red grape that serves as a popular photo spot for visitors to the area, so if you find yourself in the area, be sure to check it out!
