Details
Welcome to another fascinating wine from Little Reddie. Pat Underwood makes this from Shiraz grapes picked from the Dash Farms vineyard in the Bendigo region. But this is an ocean away from anything Shiraz-y! Instead, it's a beautiful, bronze-edged sparkle of lively strawberry and pink grapefruit flavour. The style here is super clean and refreshing, yet gentle and energetic in a way that feels entirely natural and clean.
It was coffee that first brought Pat Underwood into wine. Working behind the bar in a Castlemaine venue, he was inspired to learn more about coffee, beer and eventually wine thanks to the influence of Jarad Curwood of Chapter Wine. Jarad then allowed Pat to pick some fruit from his vineyard in 2012 and voila, Pat was a winemaker! There was only a small amount of juice, so he was using a cut-down barrel to make his wine and came up with Little Reddie as a nod to that first mini-vessel and the joy of catching Redfin (an introduced fish that is popular in country Vic and known as a Reddie). Since then, Pat has done vintage all over the world, including a particular stint with the famed Olek Bondonio in Barbaresco that led Pat to fall in love with the Nebbiolo grape. Now back in Australia, Pat makes a fab range of enigmatic and charismatic minimal intervention wines using grapes from vineyards across Central Victoria, with Nebbiolo a proud focal point.

Pairing guide
Playful and refreshing, the 2024 Leanganook Mountain Fizz is the kind of sparkling that can handle a party plate. Think fried snacks—arancini, popcorn chicken, tempura veg—or summery bites like grilled peaches with burrata or prosciutto-wrapped melon. Its zesty acidity and gentle fizz make it a cleansing, mouthwatering match for salty, spicy, and tangy flavours. Also fabulous with sushi, Vietnamese rice paper rolls, or bánh mì. It’s all about lift, fun, and fizz—no rules, just vibes.

Wine region

Bendigo, Australia
Bendigo is a wine region located in central Victoria which surrounds the city of Bendigo itself. The region used to encompass a lot of the central Victorian wine regions but they went their own way in the 1990s. Bendigo has a great history of producing classic Australian red wines like Shiraz and Cabernet Sauvignon yet is evolving with a change of plantings to more alternative varieties like Fiano and Nero D’Avola.
