Details
L'Escarpolette is an ode to the old French comics where cruising around in a Citroen 2CV with a baguette hanging out the window would fit right in. The wine behind the label fits the scene perfectly, so find some chunky glassware, preferably tinged green and glug down this Sauvignon Blanc blend that has a perfect balance of fruit, floral freshness and european joie de vivre.
Origin: Likely France, but unconfirmed. Possibly a wild grape variety that was indigenous to multiple areas in slightly different forms. Mainly Grown In: France, New Zealand, Italy, Chile, USA, South Africa and Australia Key Facts: If you’re a fan of a lime twist in your drinks, the smell of fresh-cut grass in the morning, and have been told you are intense or that "you sure stand out in a crowd", well, you’ve met your match. Sauvignon Blanc is an all-dials-at-max kind of grape, which means it's going to fist pump your senses with its intense (and sometimes pungent) aromas, mouth-watering freshness and a cleansing herbaceous character. As one of the most planted white grapes in the world, it’s no wonder it has claimed hearts in various styles; It can be lean and zesty when it’s from cooler climates and fuller and more tropical when grown in warmer ones. Fun Fact: Did you know that Sauvignon Blanc is the third most planted white grape in the world? It has over 275,000 acres planted world wide.

Pairing guide
We can’t get enough of this delicious Airen blend, which packs in plenty of zesty citrus notes and a lean, elegant character that makes it wonderful with a wide array of dishes and ingredients. We loved it with simple pasta dishes featuring parmesan and zucchini, but it’s going to be great with pork chops and lemon dressing, green vegetable salads, and all kinds of grilled and baked fish or seafood dishes. Calamari, ceviche, sushi and sashimi are classic pairings, and it’s also brilliant with Chinese lemon chicken recipes, too.

Wine region
South of France, France
French wine regions are quite controlling about what grapes they can use, when they can pick their grapes and what must be stated on the bottles. If wineries want to avoid all these tiresome restrictions, they simply use the catch-all term "Vin de France" ; however this mostly applies to the South of France where the main wine regions of Bordeaux, Rhone, Languedoc-Roussillon and the South-West sit. These regions grow it all, from Cabernet Sauvignon to Grenache and Sauvignon Blanc to Viognier so it is a great option to make less serious and restrictive wine and wines with a bit of personality.
