Details
It's Sauvignon Blanc, but in a style that feels like a different universe altogether. Crafted from an organic plot on the side of the Cher River with shallow flint and clay soils, this beautifully ripe yet minerally and so-refined white wine is all about contrasts—gentle pineapple and passionfruit creaminess, but this mouthwatering clean finish, all achieved by using little or no preservatives or additions of any kind.

In the pretty riverside village of Noyers-sur-Cher in France's wonderous Loire Valley you'll find a young grower described 'as one of the Loire’s hottest talents'. Young vigneron Valentin Desloges famously worked with some of the most winemakers in Burgundy - Raphaël Coche (Coche-Dury) and Thierry Pillot (Domaine Paul Pillot) before returning home to take control of his father’s vines in the Loire Valley. His first vintage was 2020, and his range of sublime, lo-fi Sauvignon Blanc, Chenin Blanc, Cabernet Franc & Pinot Noir wines have fast become cult classics in an astonishing few years. Valentin famously goes as far as selecting the trees from the nearby Loges forest to be used to make his barrels. Despite his minimal intervention and 'wild everything' style, Valentin crafts astonishingly pure, head-turning wines.

Pairing guide
Effortlessly elegant and exuding a wealth of delicate flavours amid all that crisp, bright character, this beautiful wine from Les Quatre Piliers is really one to take your breath away. It’s an impressive food pairing wine, too - you’ll find fabulous results matching it with subtly flavoured white fish dishes, seafood like scallops and lobster, and all kinds of green vegetable dishes featuring asparagus, artichoke, green peas or fennel. Those seeking more exotic flavours will love this wine with a Thai curry or sushi platter, and it’s also brilliant with homemade chicken pate, smoked salmon, and simple pasta creations, too.
