Details
This is from Gamay vines grown on the slopes of the rolling Beaujolais hills, planted on rocky granite. This gives the wines an extra crunchy and freshness. The wine is fermented with whole bunches (grapes, stems and all) to add a layer of spicy complexity to the wine, melding wonderfully with the raspberry and rhubarb flavours.
Samantha Bailey & Guillaume Letang are a winemaking team on a mission - they scour the southern reaches of France, searching for the best vineyards they can find, buy the fruit and translate it into juicy, fun wines year in, year out. Their model is by no means unique, but it sure does have some advantages. Each year they are able to access their 'favourite' fruit and add it to their own vineyards. This gives them a bit of protection against any wild weather that may come their way. Plus, they get a really good understanding of the weather across the country! Regardless, their combined winemaking know-how and their tireless work ethic dishes up great wine after great wine. A big part of their intense work schedule is ensuring that the vineyards are in top-notch condition - healthy fruit means great wines. A lot of their wines are also made without any oak, which allows the fruit to shine through, but again means that the fruit needs to be exemplary - it's got nowhere to hide! Luckily for us, they're up to the task, and you can taste a delicious purity of fruit in all the wines they craft. It's a happy lesson that hard work does pay off - in many delicious ways!

Pairing guide
Gamay is always a great choice of wine when it comes to food pairing, and this beautiful bottle from its homeland in France is a superb example of what this grape does best. This wine pairs very well with lighter meat-based dishes; think chicken thighs cooked simply with olive oil and pepper, turkey salads, chicken livers, or fennel sausages. It’s also great with seared tuna, and is commonly paired with charcuterie and cheese boards for an easy-drinking, good-living, and thoroughly French taste sensation!

Wine region

Beaujolais, France
Beaujolais is the land of fruity, easy-drinking reds! This wine region in France is known for its light-bodied, juicy Gamay wines that taste of cherries, red berries, and sometimes even bubblegum. With ten different Beaujolais crus to choose from, there's a wine for every taste. But the real party happens when Beaujolais Nouveau is released each November. This wine is made from freshly harvested grapes and is ready to drink just a few weeks later. So grab a bottle (or two) and let the celebrations begin! However, Beaujolais is also a hotbed for the natural wine movement and some of the industry's most pioneering names have come from this region and produce some exciting, complex wines.
