Details
Few handle Pet Nats as well as Eliza and Tosh at Lansdowne. These are always bubbly wines of joy, liveliness and character, without being too wild to be undrinkable. This Petit Pet is a lovely pink fizz too - made from Sauvignon Blanc with a little Pinot Noir for colour, it's bright and tangy with flavours of orange juice, pink grapefruit, red lollies and then a dry crisp finish. Refreshing is the name of this natural wine, and it's just lovely.
Though Lansdowne vineyards' home to the slowest growing vines in Adelaide Hills, it's certainly never a dull moment for the young hustling family behind it, Eliza and Tass ('Tosh')! This Young Gun duo is making some tremendously exciting small-batch minimal intervention production that are turning heads to the Hills in hope of tasting their hard-to-get-your-hands-on wines. The vineyard is perched at 350m above sea level in the Forreston Valley, where it experiences a Mediterranean climate with cool, wet winters and warm, dry summers that linger into long, stretched autumns. Stunning early sunsets over the vineyards and cool air pooled in the valley under the starry skies make for an ideal temperature fluctuation (diurnal swing) which ensures the grapes ripen slow and steady; a prerequisite for the kind of flavour complexity and elegance we see in the wines from Lansdowne. Eliza and Tosh believe in the importance of sustainability and transparency in their wine which means they take a full-love, but hands-off approach to make sure their wines sing in the same key as their unique roots.

Pairing guide
The brightness and joy of this pink Pet Nat make it such a great friend to have on the dinner table, the sort of lively drink that only needs to be paired with a few friends and some sunshine. Otherwise, fresh salads, especially something bittersweet using fruit or cheese and bitter lettuce is a great start, and indeed any salad that has some flavour contrasts is going to work well with this fab fizz. The other classic choice for a snappy Pet Nat like this is to pair it with something fried, and pan-fried or tempura vegetables are going to be such a winner here too.

Wine region

Adelaide Hills, Australia
The Adelaide Hills wine region, located in South Australia's Mount Lofty Ranges
of South Australia is characterised by its high altitude, cool climate, and diverse soils, which all contribute to the unique terroir that produces elegant, complex, and expressive wines. The region's altitude ranges from 400 to 700 meters above sea level, creating a cooler climate than other wine regions in South Australia. The cool temperatures slow down the ripening process of the grapes, resulting in wines with high acidity, delicate aromatics, and elegant flavours. Top sub-regions are Lenswood, Piccadilly Valley, and Basket Range, each with unique microclimates and diverse soil types that produce singular wine styles, the highlights are Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, Shiraz and a whole lot more!
