Details
‘Asolare’ 2024 is Sangiovese rosé with snap, spice and serious drinkability. Deeper in colour than is in vogue, but dry and expressive. Notes of wild strawberry, tart cherry and watermelon rind, followed by rosehip, blood orange and a savoury hint of dried oregano. The palate is bone-dry and energetic, driven by bright acidity and a subtle, appetising grip that gives it structure beyond simple fruit. Red berries and citrus peel run through the middle, finishing with a clean, lightly salty note and a whisper of spice.

L’Anima Wines is Michael Williams’ small-batch love letter to McLaren Vale - made not as a side project for volume, but as a focused space for ideas. Michael’s winemaking path has taken him from the Adelaide Hills to Tuscany and Tasmania, and back to the Vale, building a toolkit that balances intuition with precision (he’s formerly winemaker at Bondar, another McLaren Vale bright light). Under the L’Anima banner, he leans into varieties that genuinely fit the local climate - grapes that hold shape in heat, ask less of the vineyard, and deliver character without heavy-handed winemaking. The style is contemporary yet grounded: bright, savoury, and textural, with thoughtful blending where it adds dimension rather than distraction. Wines are handled with a light touch, so you get clarity of fruit, a sense of site, and that elusive, appetising “pull” that makes a bottle disappear at the table.

Pairing guide
This is your “anything Mediterranean” rosé - built for tomatoes, olive oil and char. Pair with caprese, bruschetta, tuna niçoise, or grilled octopus with lemon. Its acidity loves tomato-based dishes: pizza margherita, pasta puttanesca, or a simple sugo with fresh basil. Sangiovese’s natural savoury edge makes it great with cured meats - prosciutto, soppressata, jamón - plus salty cheeses like feta or pecorino. It’s also a winner with spice: fish tacos with pico de gallo, harissa-roasted cauliflower, or Thai grilled chicken with lime and herbs. Serve well chilled and let it warm slightly in the glass for extra perfume and texture.
