Details
Frankland River is one of the true gems of the Western Australian wine scene, banging out top quality Riesling, Shiraz and of course Cabernet Sauvignon. This is a prime example of West Aussie Cab Sauv with smoky bacon and tomato leaf notes to start with before delving into a wash of blackberries and tight tannin.
Origin: It’s believed that the first wines made were in the Médoc region, in the west of France. Mainly Grown In: France, USA, Australia, Italy, Chile, South Africa, Argentina, Spain, NZ… all over, really! Key Facts: Cabernet Sauvignon is truly a globetrotter. Having a home in Bordeaux certainly helped its rapid expansion, as the Bordelaise (those coming from Bordeaux) are excellent marketers of their own product! Now found in almost all wine-producing countries of the world, Cab Sav is traditionally full-bodied, loaded with plenty of dark fruit (think blueberry and blackberry) and backed up by a zing of herbal/grassy kind of flavours. It’s also known for its strong backbone of tannin – that furry, drying sensation you sometimes get with red wines. Cabernet has plenty of it, but is still a smooth talker regardless. Fun Fact: You've probably met Cabernet Sauvignon's half-sister.. Merlot! If not... then it's probably time for a family reunion!

Pairing guide
We can’t get enough of this stunning Cabernet Sauvignon from Lange Estate, which really delivers when it comes to depth and power, and provides loads of exciting food pairing possibilities to explore. Steak, chips, and a classic peppercorn sauce is probably the most obvious match to go for, but this is also a top barbecue wine that can handle loads of smokiness and fat, too. Rich potato dishes, mushrooms, truffle, and punchy aged cheeses will all work fantastically, as will slow-cooked lamb and duck leg creations. Yummy!

Great Southern, Australia
Get ready to swirl, sniff, and sip your way through Western Australia's largest wine region - the Great Southern! Within the Great Southern, you will find five sub-regions, with Frankland River and Mount Barker being arguably the most noteworthy.
