Details
A spicy, rich, complex Pinot Noir, showing off the powerful side of this grape. It has a wonderful mix of forest berries and plums, with some leaves and floral tones thrown in. Lots of cherry on the palate, backed up by spicy oak and a hint of chocolate. Fine, long and complex.

Winemaker Michael Kyberd is keen to tell all who ask just how lucky he thinks he is. Looking at his beautiful winery in the heart of Mornington Peninsula, and having tasted his stunning portfolio of cool-climate Pinot Noirs and Chardonnays, it’s not hard to understand where his belief in his good fortune comes from. For the past fifteen years, Michael and his wife Nicolette have worked in the Mornington Peninsula wine scene, and ultimately took their experience to spearhead Kyberd Hills (named after an amalgamation of their surnames, not after any geographical area) and reap the rewards of their hard work and dedication. Kyberd Hills is a winery which truly, deeply, and unwaveringly believes that the vineyards of Mornington Peninsula are among the finest anywhere in the world for growing Pinot Noir and Chardonnay vines. Michael puts this down to the excellent soils and gentle autumnal climate, which brings forward high levels of natural acidity and plenty of complexity in the grapes. Whatever the reason for the excellence of their output, nobody could deny that Kyberd Hills are most definitely doing a lot of things right.

Pairing guide
This beautiful Pinot Noir from Kyberd Hills does everything a great Pinot should - it’s silky, elegant, and absolutely bursting with those irresistible dark fruit flavours we know and love. As such, it’s a fantastic match for juicy duck dishes, succulent lamb shanks, chops, steaks, or stews, and perfect with classic meaty casseroles like a boeuf bourguignon or a goulash. We also love this wine with seared tuna steak, mushroom dishes, tomato-based pasta and Italian classics like spaghetti puttanesca, and family favourites such as a roast chicken dinner!

Wine region
Mornington Peninsula, Australia
Just an hour's drive south of Melbourne is the Pinot Paradise, also known as Mornington Peninsula. The signature variety of the region is, without a doubt, Pinot Noir, accounting for over half of the region’s vines, followed by Chardonnay at 25% and Pinot Gris at 20%. Pinot Noir from this region is typically characterised by its refreshing acidity and purity. The deep colour may lead you to think these wines are potent, but in reality, the wines are elegant, pretty and medium-bodied at best. Surrounded by Bass Strait, Port Phillip Bay and Western Port Bay in Victoria, Mornington Peninsula’s climate is uniquely maritime cool and breezy. In fact, no vineyard is further than 7km from the ocean! Some of the most notable producers in the Mornington Peninsula include Kooyong, Ten Minutes by Tractor, Stonier Wines and boutique wineries such as Montalto, Ocean Eight, and Quealy Wines.
