Details
A rather atypical Sauvignon Blanc from a single vineyard, although it is really two blocks directly adjacent each other with differing aspects. Having partial oak influence really sets this Savvy apart from the masses. Nettle and hay aromatics uncover a surprising depth of baked blackcurrant, lemon meringue and an electric acidity finishing with a faint edge of oak. Very savvy indeed.
There’s been a lot of talk about the Robe region in recent years, and if you’ve had your finger on the pulse of the contemporary Aussie wine scene, the chances are you’ve heard all about this special stretch of land and the awesome vino it is producing. Robe is an emerging wine region on the Limestone Coast in south-eastern South Australia, with vineyards that run along a rugged coastline where the vines are strongly influenced by the cooling effect of the Southern Ocean. This means vineyards in the region, like those of Karatta Winery, have the opportunity to create wines with pure fruit flavours and mouthwatering freshness — big win. Karatta has been gaining a whole lot of interest lately, and it really isn’t difficult to see why: run by David and Peg Woods, this new Australian winery is bringing together the best of the Old World and the New, and is releasing highly drinkable and utterly delicious wines to a growing number of dedicated fans.

Pairing guide
We really can’t get enough of this delicious Fumé Blanc wine from the perennially-thrilling Karatta winery. It’s a delightful wine to pair with fresh, invigorating dishes, and feels especially at home with simple white fish creations, lemon-infused chicken dishes, and with shellfish like mussels and clams. Milder charcuterie will also work well with this wine, and it’s going to be delicious with herb salads, green vegetables, and homemade pesto.

Wine region

Robe, Australia
Robe is a sub-region of the larger Limestone Coast wine region of South Australia and is known for producing high-quality wines. The region has a Mediterranean climate, with warm, dry summers and mild winters, which makes it ideal for growing grapes. The landscape is characterized by rolling hills, beautiful beaches, and charming towns. The region is best known for its crisp and refreshing white wines that pair particularly well with a bounty of fresh local seafood. But it's also gained a reputation for its bold and flavorful red wines. Some of the grape varieties commonly grown in the Robe wine region include Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Shiraz.
