Details
An elegant blend of mostly Chenin Blanc, with some Semillon, Viognier and Grenache Blanc, which is sourced from 5 different vineyard sites in the Swartland. It has a lovely, pure nose of yellow apple, pink grapefruit and mandarin, and the palate is succulent and slightly creamy. Wonderful balance and freshness.

There’s a lot of talk in the wine world about the ‘New South African’ wine scene; a reinvigorated industry that’s working tirelessly to bring the oldest of the New World wine countries kicking and screaming into the 21st century. Johan Meyer (aka 'Stompie'), the winemaker behind the JH Meyer winery (and one of the most widely-lauded rising stars in South African wine) has played no small part in this evolutionary process, producing stunning Chenin Blanc, Pinot Noir and Chardonnay wines from his beautiful winery in the heart of the Elgin region. Meyer is determined to get South Africa, and his beloved cool-climate Elgin region in particular, recognised not just for the country’s signature styles but also for classic Burgundy grapes, too. He carefully selected his plots after seeking out the most appropriate microclimates for Pinot Noir and Chardonnay, and believes that the fact that South Africa isn’t known for these wine styles will work in his favour. One thing’s for sure - Stompie is gaining a powerful reputation on the back of his gorgeous releases. Cheers to that!

This white blend from JH Meyer really showcases the amazing flavours of South Africa’s leading vineyards, bringing together Chenin Blanc, Viognier, Semillon, and Grenache Blanc grapes in one superb bottle. It’s going to pair beautifully with luxurious buttery fish and shellfish dishes, and will also work well with pork or veal, especially when served in a creamy sauce. This white blend can also stand up to some chilli heat, so don’t be shy with your spices!
