Details
Being strong believers in minimal intervention winemaking, they backed themselves and made a wine without the addition of any sulphur. The result? A pure, joyous wine that is full to the brim of bright, luscious fruits and endowed with an incredible texture! Magical stuff. But, the minimalist nature of this wine may not be for everyone. It will be cloudy and potentially have a slight fizz upon opening. Please don't worry, this is intentional and all part of the charm of natural wines.
Great things happen when brilliant minds come together. This is as true in music and art as it is in the world of wine, as there is no genius quite so powerful as one which has another to bounce ideas off, pool resources with, and compete against. We’re not sure how competitive Jarad Curwood of Chapter Wines and Jordy Key of Chevre are when working together, but there’s no doubt about the fact that fans of superb quality, delicious and expressive Australian wine are rejoicing at their joining for this highly successful project. In order to produce their stunning Pinot Noir, they’ve both returned to a favourite old vineyard on the Mornington Peninsula, where - let’s face it - you couldn’t really fail to enjoy working. This is a fairly idyllic corner of Victoria, where the turquoise sea brings plenty of character to the vines, and cooling breezes allow the finicky Pinot Noir grapes to ripen slowly, taking on loads of personality in the process. Chemical intervention is kept to an absolute minimum, and old school, single vineyard methods of hand picking and basket pressing are involved in order to maintain all of those lovely, natural, elegant flavours. Simple, straightforward, honest and oh so Australian, it really is the product of two passionate vintners, bringing out the best in each other.

Pairing guide
Pinot Noir is a dream when it comes to food pairing. Flexible, elegant and juicy, it sits comfortably alongside a massive variety of dishes, and manages to stand up to stronger flavours while harmonising with subtler ones. You can’t go far wrong with duck and Pinot Noir, nor are Chinese pork dishes ever a bad move when it comes to this world-beating wine style. If you want to look a little outside the box, trying pairing this red wine with robust, hearty fish dishes, such as roasted salmon or tuna. For the vegetarians, this particular Pinot is going to go brilliantly with more or less any beetroot dish you can imagine - it’ll really bring out all that lovely earthiness - as well as with goats cheese, grilled asparagus and peas.

Wine region

Mornington Peninsula, Australia
Just an hour's drive south of Melbourne is the Pinot Paradise, also known as Mornington Peninsula.
The signature variety of the region is, without a doubt, Pinot Noir, accounting for over half of the region’s vines, followed by Chardonnay at 25% and Pinot Gris at 20%. Pinot Noir from this region is typically characterised by its refreshing acidity and purity. The deep colour may lead you to think these wines are potent, but in reality, the wines are elegant, pretty and medium-bodied at best.
Surrounded by Bass Strait, Port Phillip Bay and Western Port Bay in Victoria, Mornington Peninsula’s climate is uniquely maritime cool and breezy. In fact, no vineyard is further than 7km from the ocean! Some of the most notable producers in the Mornington Peninsula include Kooyong, Ten Minutes by Tractor, Stonier Wines and boutique wineries such as Montalto, Ocean Eight, and Quealy Wines.
