Details
Rivers Lane is where you'll find the J & J Wines vineyard, so why not call your wine after it? This is a lovely, rich, and powerful organic Shiraz too. Matured using a mix of French and American oak, it's a luscious, robustly flavoured, super smooth Shiraz with acres of flavour and a finish that goes on for days.
We've heard a few vineyard origin stories in our time, but a former ostrich breeding farm? Now that's a first. Jeff & Joan Mason saw the potential, though, planting a vineyard on their fertile block just outside the McLaren Vale township in 1998. This was the middle of the international Shiraz boom, so Australia's fave red grape was a natural choice, and they had their first vintage in 2000 as a bit of a hobby. But the volume of grapes quickly made this a commercial operation, and the business needed a name; Jeff & Joan's wine business became J & J Wines. The next part of this story is where it gets interesting. Not content with the status quo, Jeff & Joan converted the vineyard to organic production with full certification in 2012. Now, they produce a small range of Shiraz from their organic property that tastes like another level. These are rich, luscious McLaren Vale wines, made with minimal sulphur, filtering or fining that taste like the essence of 'Vale' Shiraz in every glass.

Pairing guide
Ah, Shiraz. Let us count the ways we love you! Goe DiFabio, who makes the wines here at J & J Wines, has done a brilliant job with this bottle, making sure it boasts all those delicious, complex Shiraz qualities we know and love, while keeping things nice and approachable at the same time. This wine is always going to be a big hit with barbecued and grilled meats - Shiraz, as we know, loves a bit of smoke and char - and is going to pair beautifully with your homemade burgers, racks of ribs, and char-grilled steaks. Grilled veggies are also going to work well, as will smoky eggplant dishes, and even a rich double chocolate gateau. Get in!
