Details
Golden in the glass, this is a startling glass of wine - certainly offering more than the standard Kiwi Sauvignon. It's got lots of fruit to offer - passionfruit, lime and kiwi fruit. There's some notes of honey and bread dough in there as well. Creamy and yet fresh, this is really good!

Huia - pronounced HOOYA! - was launched in New Zealand’s pristine Marlborough region in 1996, by married couple Mike and Claire Allan. Driven by a desire to bring high-quality low-intervention and organic wines to the region, Mike and Claire set about exploring the impeccable terroir, working closely with the land, and producing some seriously impressive wines along the way. The next twenty-five years brought success after success, more than vindicating their decision to take the ‘difficult route’ of working organically and doing away with the kind of intervention that would block much of the expression they see as vital to their work. Despite picking up fans and awards left, right, and centre, Huia stays close to its humble roots as a passion project; batches are kept small and exclusive, quality comes before quantity with each and every step, and they remain true pioneers in the New Zealand organic wine scene. After all, with fruit this bright, aromatic, and characterful, it would seem utter madness to do things any other way.

Pairing guide
Sauvignon Blanc frequently tops our HQ polls of most food-friendly white wine, and this delightfully bright and breezy bottle from Huia certainly lives up to the hype. It’s a great wine for pairing with salty cheeses, feta, spinach, and mint combinations, simple chicken dishes, and green vegetables like asparagus, broccoli, and kale. It’s also a top-notch wine for pairing with grilled oily fish, and will also work well with homemade pesto, too.

Wine region
Marlborough, New Zealand
Marlborough is by far and away the jewel in New Zealand's winemaking crown. Situated at the northern tip of the South Island, Marlborough is home to one of the world's most celebrated and popular styles of wine: Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc. The region surmises the natural beauty that New Zealand boasts and is now home to over 500 wine producers of varying sizes, from epic, large-scale operations to small, boutique craft producers. Naturally, the region is celebrated for its zesty, pungent styles of Sauvignon Blanc, but the wine train doesn't stop there. Marlborough is also celebrated for very high-quality Pinot Noir and Chardonnay (the latter being some of the most underrated wines in the region). You will also find smaller pockets of Viognier, Riesling and Pinot Gris planted here. Marlborough represents almost 75% of all wine produced in New Zealand.
