Details
This delicious, berry-laden McLaren Vale red is a grape mashup. On the one hand, you have one of the hero grapes of Portugal, Touriga, giving all its purple berry vibrancy. Then, on the other, comes Tempranillo—Spain's red grape champion—with all its ripe fruit and milk chocolate punch. Together, they make a super delicious, ripe red with oceans of luscious fruit.
While the family vineyards date back to 1980, Hither & Yon’s journey began in 2012 from the capable hands of the Leask brothers. Richard is the outside man, the farmer and maker; Malcolm is the inside guy, director and creator. The aim is to make better wines with a lighter footprint. To do this, Hither & Yon apply regenerative farming methods that’d make Costas of Gardening Australia proud. Practices include and are not limited to increased plant diversity between rows, the use of beneficial fungi brews, and planned cattle grazing. The result is improved soil structure for better carbon capture and water retention; all this translates to superb fruit for the wines, not to mention some very happy sheep and cattle. We could go on about Richard and Malcolm’s miracle work, but being certified sustainable and carbon neutral says it all. In their own words, ‘We make wines that are good for the environment and feel great to drink!’ Cheers to that!

Pairing guide
You can always rely on the team at Hither & Yon to deliver the goods when it comes to characterful and versatile wines, and this red blend is truly no exception. That winning combo of Tempranillo and Touriga grapes makes it a great wine to pair with rich red meat dishes - spice-rubbed chops, lamb steaks with chimichurri, hunks of beef with a peppercorn sauce and more - and it’s also excellent with Spanish-influenced dishes like meaty paella, chorizo in red wine sauce and hearty bean stews. Mole dishes, chilli con carne, vegetable lasagna and black bean burritos are also going to pair fantastically well with this one.
