Details
This super-charged, flavour-filled Blanc de Blancs style has plenty of zest and puckering freshness! It sings in the absence of preservatives. Crisp and ripe flavours of pineapple, apple and white peach are balanced by a creamy texture from a little extra time spent maturing on the lees. This well-balanced fizz makes the perfect first pour to pair with canapes or as an aperitif to kick off a great night ahead.
Origin: Australian Sparkling comes from… Australia. Don’t say we never teach you anything. Mainly Grown In: Often found in Victoria, New South Wales, the ACT, South Australia, Western Australia, Tasmania... sometimes even Queensland. But never NT. Sorry. Key Facts: Australia has been making sparkling wine since the late 1800s, and some of the first bottles to be produced were actually sparkling red, a style that has stuck with us until today! In the mid 50s the production of the sparkling wines we know today really took off, and the market for it increased – in other words, people got to drinking! The style has been refined over the decades, and now Australia makes world-class sparkling wines, traditionally based on Chardonnay and Pinot Noir. The style is dry, with flavours of baked bread and green apple, with really lovely, juicy acidity. Great stuff. Fun Fact: Australia has been recognised as great sparkling wine country by the Champagne cognoscenti – Domaine Chandon (of Moët et Chandon) set up shop in the Yarra Valley in 1986, and has made great wines ever since.

Pairing guide
So, a sparkling wine with zero preservatives - really is our hero! A Blanc de Blancs, one of the styles we like most. Hero of Zero is a Sparkling for those who like the idea of 'preservative free', it's a rich wine, but great for when setting the dining table, or an impromptu toast. Congratulations! It pairs best when matched with starters; think sushi and seafood. It also works wonderfully with soft cheeses and can handle a little kick of spice, like chilli prawns. Another tip? Don't be too shy to fry: pair it with fried foods, as this little 'Hero' loves to team up with hot chips, or fried chicken. We have found our food pairing Hero!

Wine region

Murray Darling, Australia
The Murray Darling wine region is one of the three that is the backbone of the Australian wine industry, alongside the Riverland and Riverina. The Murray Darling is situated along the Victorian and NSW border with Mildura being the centre. Whether it is grapes or oranges and other fruit, this is the place to find them. It's a hot and dry area with long, hot summers and cool winters, making it the perfect spot for growing grapes. Aside from the commercial wineries that source a large amount of fruit from this region, there is also a growing scene of alternative varietals thanks to wineries like Chalmers.
