Details
The Harvey Estate Rosé sits at the pale end of the pink spectrum and although this sometimes carries a connotation to a boring aroma, this wine is anything but, with a lifted floral tone thanks to a snifter of Gewürztraminer added. The palate packs a punch with strawberries and cherries that spin around the mouth like a salad spinner vigorously working away at some lettuce. The finishing touch is some creamy elegance that puts this rosé into the “must drink more” category.

Harvey is located 140 km south of Perth in the heart of the Geographe wine region. Geographe gets its name from the nearby bay which was named by the famous French explorer, Nicolas Baudin after his ship, and shows how close Australians came to speaking French and eating croissants! If you have spent any time in WA, you’ll know that Harvey is famous for its milk and OJ, under the Harvey Fresh label. The Sorgiovanni family, who own Harvey River Estate were the founders of Harvey Fresh before selling the company in 2014 and firmly switching their focus to wine. The farm was started by the patriarch, Giuseppe in 1928 and aside from the citrus orchard and dairy cows, Giuseppe was also known for making his own wine with family and friends. The vineyard, planted in the 1980s, now has a growing range of grape varieties from the classics to alternative varieties like Barbera and Montepulciano. Today, Giuseppe’s son, Kevin is running the winery with the helping hand of experienced winemaker Stuart Pierce.

Pairing guide
Predominantly crafted from Harvey River Estate’s beautiful Shiraz and Cabernet varieties, this charming rosé has plenty to offer those seeking pink wine perfection with their dinner! It’s a superb pairing with ham and cheese combos, rich tomato-based curries and pasta sauces, juicy cuts of duck breast, lamb shoulder and grilled pork, and especially with salmon and tuna cooked with plenty of herbs. Mediterranean veggies, charcuterie and creamy mushrooms will also be brilliant here.

Wine region
Geographe, Australia
Geographe is a wine region located in the South West region of Western Australia (40 minute’s drive Northeast of Margaret River). It has a Mediterranean-style climate with warm, dry summers and mild, winters, which is ideal for growing grapes. The soils are predominantly sandy loams, providing good drainage and nutrient levels for the vines, and some vineyards have access to the permanent water table 15m below. It is known for producing high quality Cabernet Sauvignon, Sauvignon Blanc, Semillon and Shiraz. Compared to nearby Margaret River, Cabernet Sauvignon from Geographe tends to have distinctly fine gain and lingering tannins. The region has seen a rapid growth of boutique producers in recent years, aided by its proximity to Geographe Bay, which is home to a world-class food and wine scene, but attractions like Busselton Jetty, Cape Naturaliste Lighthouse and gorgeous seascape panoramas.
