Details
The Aziza’s Semillon is one of the original preservative free wines in Australia and has a lovely cult following. This Semillon still shows its Hunter Valley pedigree with beautiful lemony notes and undercurrents of bales of hay on a summer's day. As Semillon does, this wine shows lovely textural weight on the palate, capped off by vibrant acidity.

Richard Harkham is a man living in Australia’s oldest wine region that spent most of his life with no history in the wine world and has no pretensions to knowing anything about it! Richard took over the family winery from father and gave it a fresh breath of life. The main focus around the wines is to not mess with the grapes and leave them alone as much as possible. The wines are produced without preservatives and focus on still expressing the key grapes that make the Hunter Valley iconic, Semillon, Chardonnay and Shiraz. Aside from a focus on not adding preservatives, Richard and his family are Jewish, and make all their wines according to the strict kosher laws of that faith. The Harkham Estate winemaker is a New Zealander, Jade Collins, who previously worked for cult Mosel winery, Closems Busch before working with Richard. The wines express a lot of love and care that the team at Harkham give to the grapes and you are bound to feel better drinking them!

Pairing guide
A great bottle of Semillon is always welcome at dinner time, and this delicious release from Harkham Wines is no exception. This Semillon is going to pair fantastically with roast chicken thighs, white meats such as turkey and pork tenderloin, and even with game birds like duck and goose. Indian and Thai curries, white bean dishes, fish like snapper and barramundi, and all kinds of sushi and sashimi will be excellent with this wine.

Wine region
Hunter Valley, Australia
The Hunter Valley is located in New South Wales, Australia. It is situated approximately 150km northwest of Sydney and is known for producing world-class Semillon and formidable Chardonnay, Verdelho, Sauvignon Blanc, and Shiraz. The region has a long history of winemaking, with the first vines planted in the 1830s. Today, the Hunter Valley is home to more than 150 wineries, ranging from small, family-owned operations to larger, internationally recognized producers such as Tyrell’s Wines, Mount Pleasant Wines and Brokenwood Wines. Hunter Valley comprises the following sub-regions: Upper Hunter Valley, Broke Fordwich, and Pokolbin. The region's climate is warm and humid, relying on rain, humidity, cloud cover and sea breeze to mitigate the warmth. Soil types vary across the region. Generally, Semillon performs well on the sandy alluvial flats, whereas Shiraz prefers the red loamy soil types.
