Details
Vermentino is one of our favourite white varieties - typically salty and fresh, with some texture. This is textbook - the nose is floral, with beautiful white pepper and a touch of honey dew melon. On the palate, zippy lemon flavours mix with a mouth-watering salinity, and there's a delicious creaminess to offset the typical Watervale acid backbone that drives the wine.
Gullyview Estate in the Clare Valley is the exciting new venture from Jono Koerner, who has stepped out on his own after his successful collaboration with his brother Damon at Koerner Wines and LEKO. The Koerner family's winemaking legacy runs deep, with Jono and Damon's parents planting the original Gullyview Estate vineyard decades ago. Today, this same vineyard provides the exceptional fruit that goes into every bottle of Gullyview wines. With a nod to his heritage and an eye on innovation, Jono is crafting wines that reflect both the rich history and dynamic future of the Clare Valley. The wines are modern Clare Valley classics, utilising grape varieties that have always grown there, but picked slightly earlier and so showing off a vibrancy of fruit that perhaps the region hasn't always been known for. The wines are clean, juicy and digestible, and well worth your attention. Delicious stuff.

Pairing guide
We’re huge fans of this spritely and refreshing Vermentino from Clare Valley’s Gullyview Estate - it’s exactly the kind of white wine that we love to drink alongside some of our favourite dishes and ingredients. It’s a natural pairing for richer seafood dishes like prawn and clam pasta, seared scallops and barbecued prawns with chilli and garlic, and it’s also going to taste fantastic with grilled chicken breast (especially with a peri-peri or jerk seasoning rub), green salads and breaded white fish fillets. Soft cheeses like ricotta, spicy noodles and Vietnamese pho, and lemon risotto will also provide memorable pairings you’re sure to adore.
