Details
A great wine - don't even think about taking the Prohibition title seriously. The Tempranillo is the key to this blend. It provides the savoury core of fruit and the raps of tannin that gives it shape. Shiraz gives us some plummy fruit, Grenache some juiciness. It’s medium to full bodied, with plenty of pepperiness on the finish.
Unfined, unruly, unfiltered and wild, the Goon Tycoons are ripping up the rulebook and seeking adventure in Western Australia's finest wine regions. Set up by three kindred spirits, looking for a way out of their day jobs and into the world of viticulture, this is a winery which takes the notion of expression very seriously indeed. Margaret River has long been the home of pioneering spirits, and the Goon Tycoons are on a mission to unlock the potential of its lesser known nooks and crannies. With a love for Grenache, which grows with wild abandon in the Margaret River, Goon Tycoons are consistently on the lookout for the best terroirs, offering the most fascinating set of flavours and characteristics. They've also experienced great success with Riesling, and have begun to dip their new-age toes into that most Aussie of grapes: Shiraz. No matter which vines they work with, Goon Tycoons will always seek a way to put their own unique spin on things, based on the principles of small-batch production, heightened levels of expression, and a wild and rebellious approach. They've got all the ingredients for a cult classic – so get in there before they hit the big time!

Pairing guide
This gorgeous Tempranillo blend from the ever-inventive Goon Tycoons is a fantastic example of what this grape varietal is capable of, and it unlocks a world of possibilities when it comes to delicious food pairing possibilities. On the one hand, this wine is going to go with the classics of Spanish and Latin American food we know and love - spicy pork braises, chilli con carne, beef burritos and chicken fajitas, and dishes with kidney beans and red capsicum. On the other, this wine will work really well with Cajun flavours (a jambalaya or cajun chicken dish will match nicely), corn dishes, and lean steaks like filet mignon.

Frankland River, Australia
Frankland River is one of five sub-regions in Great Southern, Western Australia. The Great Southern as the name suggests is extremely large, spread out over 100 km north to south and 150 km east to west. Frankland River is located in the north-west part of Great Southern and is known for high quality Shiraz, Cabernet Sauvignon and Riesling as well as recent movement towards Grenache, Tempranillo and other Mediterranean varieties. The region is relatively recent with plantings dating back to 1967 and by the 1980s wineries like Alkoomi and Frankland Estate were well established.
