Details
Gorgeous skinsy Chenin from Barossa wunderkind Dave Geyer. It’s golden and cloudy, with beguiling aromas of apricot, marmalade and creamy vanilla, like apricot crumble just out of the oven, but on the palate it’s dry and savoury. The wine has a texture of cream, but has minerality, tannin and zing! An intense and serious wine of contemplation.

Geyer Wine Co. is a natural wine producer from the Barossa Valley. In an ode to ancestry, but with eyes fixed firmly on the future, Geyer revives and nurtures neglected vineyards of the region to produce honest, innovative and thoroughly delicious wines in an artful convergence of heritage and heresy. After a childhood in the Barossa Valley, Dave Geyer found himself working in the vineyards of Torbreck; this sparked his interest in all things viticulture, and preceded a seven-year stint at the winery. Given an opportunity to travel for vintage to the US and South Africa, the goal of one day producing his own wines was cemented. After Torbreck, and back from his travels, Geyer and his wife Sarah settled in the Barossa permanently. Dave seeks to control the process starting with the vineyard, and the elimination of synthetic chemicals, through to the winery where the mantra, ‘less is more’ rings true, reviving and nurturing some of the forgotten vineyards of the region to produce honest, innovative and delicious wines.

Pairing guide
We love it when winemakers get creative in transforming the familiar into something truly new, which is absolutely the case with this skin contact Chenin from Geyer Wine Co. Absolutely bursting with flavour and character, we love this wine with spicy Sichuan fish and seafood dishes, with Asian tofu soups and curries, and with spring and summer rolls with a chilli dip. Salads of nuts, grains and other earthy ingredients will definitely hit the spot, and it’s every bit as good with seafood curry, scallops and garlic prawns.
