Details
A rather poised expression of Sauvignon Blanc! This opens with a bit of air, displaying its latent power and drive. You'll notice the variety - lots of citrus fruit dominates with flickering edges of tropical notes; but these expand into even more generous citrus and just an edge of grassiness. The palate is textural, mineral and rather high in acidity with a chalky interest. Powerful and complex.
In 2017, vigneron Ian Marks passed away unexpectedly. His vision, energy, creativity and passion in establishing Gembrook Hill Vineyard back in 1983 inspires his wife June and son Andrew to uphold and continue his legacy. With views of Mt Donna Buang, a backdrop of the Warburton ranges, red soil and a coveted north-easterly aspect, Gembrook Hill is the perfect spot for cool climate winemaking, as one of the oldest vineyards in the Upper Yarra Valley. Gembrook's wines are regarded as some of the most outstanding wines in Australia, crafted with an old-world winemaking mindset. Gembrook Hill was one of the pacesetters in the Yarra Valley with its restrained yet complex style of Chardonnay. The Sauvignon Blanc possesses characteristics found in France, and is more austere than the typical Australian and New Zealand examples. And the Pinot Noir has the elegance of an old world Burgundy. The most recent addition to the range, the sparkling Blanc de Blancs, has been acclaimed as one of the finest of its style.

Pairing guide
With its crisp fruit flavours and delightful biting acidity, it’s no surprise this Sauvignon Blanc from Gembrook Hill is fantastic for food-pairing. It’s going to match up brilliantly with white fish and poultry dishes, especially those with a spritz of lemon, and with dishes that pile on fresh green herbs and green peppercorns. Vegetables like snow peas, asparagus and green beans will hit the spot, and leafy salads and seafood, tofu, and white bean dishes will also be fabulous.
