Details
Not a common blend, but these two grapes do seem like natural partners, so perhaps we could see more of this in the future? A wine of medium body, filled with ripe but slightly sour red fruits, beautifully floral, relatively low in tannin - all in all, just delicious and juicy fresh.

Gapsted Wines is a unique project, born of the shared experience of seven wine industry families who came together and invested themselves in the region that they love. Although their skills, talents, and personalities are varied, they made the decision to build a winery based on the single idea of 'excellence'. It’s this idea that drives them to this day. The founding families were involved in the wine industry and all saw the potential of the region to produce stunning aromatic white wines and elegant, complex reds. From growing the fruit to selling the wines, the partners sought to control all elements and create high quality wines of distinction. The winery site was selected for its stunning alpine views and proximity to the region’s best cool climate fruit. 20 years later - what a result. The wines are now found all over the world, and they continue to set trends with the production of innovative blends and approachable, food-friendly wines. Pairing guide
Travel to any bistro, wine bar, or trattoria in Italy’s Tuscany, and you’re going to find yourself served with a bottle of delicious Sangiovese - all bright sunshine and juicy red flavours - or a bottle of Barbera, which packs in complexity, depth, and spice. This beautiful blend from Gapsted brings the two Italian behemoths of the country’s red wine industry together… and the results are nothing short of spectacular, and utterly ideal for food pairing. This wine really longs for the sweetness and acidity of fresh tomatoes, so any dish which makes great use of our favourite juicy red fruit is going to be a real winner. It’s also a great pairing for pork, for eggplant in rich cheese and tomato sauces, and will go just as well with a classic pizza, lasagna, or spaghetti bolognese!
