Details
An incredibly delicate and refreshing style of Margaret River Semillon, this complex and minerally white wine is all about contrasting textures, featuring waxy lemon fruit, marzipan, and a hint of dried herbs, followed by a tight and subtly creamy palate. Despite being a light and quite delicate wine, there is so much happening here that hooks you right in for second and third glasses without even trying.

In 1998, Graham Lloyd established a vineyard at Karridale, in the windy, chilly southern end of Margaret River, working alongside his daughter Claudia. Claudia went off to make wine all over the planet, but Margaret River was always in her heart, and it wasn't long before she returned to the vineyard with wine husband Matt Gant (founder of First Drop Wines in the Barossa) in tow. Sadly, Graham Lloyd passed away in 2016. Claudia and Matt took over the vineyard and established Gant & Co. to 'not only showcase the fruit from this amazing site but also champion the cool climate sub-region of Karridale'. Since then, this stunning plot has gone on to be named as a finalist in Young Gun of Wine’s ‘Vineyard of the Year’ awards, and the beautifully refined, thoughtfully made Gant & Co. wines just continue to impress with their fine-boned expression of Margaret River wine.

Pairing guide
This ultra-refined and delicate white wine is easily overrun by any foods that have heavy and rich flavours, so you really want to reach for an equally light and refreshing dish. Oysters, crab, lobster, white fish, prawns, sushi and lightly spicy chicken dishes will work wonderfully here, with the creamy mineral edge of the wine really accentuating some subtle spice. Pan-fried snapper, sea bass or whiting will work wonderfully here, as would Vietnamese or Thai stir-fries that don't go too heavy on the sauce. Salad, especially with feta, halloumi or other white cheeses, is going to be absolutely fantastic here too.
