Details
What a superb take on Margaret River red wine this is. Proudly medium-bodied, with moderate alcohol, and savoury, it smells of leafy dried spice, tobacco, and a flicker of chocolate, then into red and dark purple fruit to flesh out the palate. So precise! We think it is a winemaking masterpiece, with the Cabernet Sauvignon and Malbec fruit woven expertly together and finishing with refreshment and mouthwatering tannins to make you return for a second (and third and fourth..) glass.
In 1998, Graham Lloyd established a vineyard at Karridale, in the windy, chilly southern end of Margaret River, working alongside his daughter Claudia. Claudia went off to make wine all over the planet, but Margaret River was always in her heart, and it wasn't long before she returned to the vineyard with wine husband Matt Gant (founder of First Drop Wines in the Barossa) in tow. Sadly, Graham Lloyd passed away in 2016. Claudia and Matt took over the vineyard and established Gant & Co. to 'not only showcase the fruit from this amazing site but also champion the cool climate sub-region of Karridale'. Since then, this stunning plot has gone on to be named as a finalist in Young Gun of Wine’s ‘Vineyard of the Year’ awards, and the beautifully refined, thoughtfully made Gant & Co. wines just continue to impress with their fine-boned expression of Margaret River wine.

Pairing guide
Deeply flavoured and oh-so delicious, we just know you’re going to love this Cabernet blend from Gant & Co every bit as much as we did. It’s a natural pairing for hearty homemade dishes including porcini pasta, meat loaf, roast poultry and topside of beef with all the trimmings, and will work brilliantly with classic stews ranging from bourguignon to a proper Hungarian goulash. Vegetarian favourites like stuffed portobello mushrooms (especially if piled high with mature cheddar or blue cheese) and beetroot risotto will also pair very well indeed, and it’s not half bad with sausage, mash and gravy, either.
