Details
A very interesting blend (also known as cuvée) of the grapes Colombard, Ugni Blanc, and Chardonnay. Together they are aged for nearly a year before release, and this adds depth and spice to the white florals and gentle citrus of this wine. It is creamy and smooth, with lingering aromas of freshly baked bread, golden delicious apples, and Meyer lemon.
The original Francois Montand, a descendant of a long line of winemakers from Champagne, moved to the small Jura region in the 1940s and began making sparkling wines in the style of his birthplace. This small region in the east of France has since become known for the production of very high quality sparkling wines, and Francois soon became regarded as a Jura specialist and was instrumental in the creation of the Cremant du Jura appellation for sparkling wines. Today, Francois Montand wines are still produced in the Jura region (and indeed elsewhere across France) with strict adherence to the traditional method (always made the same way!), alongside a laser focus on harvesting the best grapes with the highest aromatic potential. The winemaker these days is Arnaud van der Voorde, whose experience has taken him from the Rhone Valley to Armagnac and now to the Jura. He's obsessed with utilising interesting grapes to create floral yet fresh wines as the base of high quality sparkling. The wines are consistently excellent and are a great introduction to the lesser-known sparklings of France.

Pairing guide
When it comes to food pairing, you just can’t go wrong with a quality dry sparkling wine. This lovely number from Francois Montand really strikes the perfect balance on the palate, and has all the crisp, acidic freshness you want from a classic French bubbly. We love this wine with breaded meats, fish, and cheeses, anything battered and deep fried (calamari is never a bad option!), buttered popcorn, elegant salads, quiche… I mean, the list is virtually endless with this food-friendly fizz!

Wine region

Jura, France
The Jura wine region is located in eastern France, near the mountains on the border with Switzerland. It is known for its unique and distinctive wine styles, including the nutty and oxidative 'Vin Jaune' and the crisp and refreshing whites made from local variety Savagnin as well as Chardonnay. The soils are built on limestone, contributing to the freshness and acidity in the wines, and as a result, the wines age very well. Home to a multitude of local varieties, the Jura region is a must-visit destination for wine lovers and offers a taste of France that is truly one-of-a-kind.
