Details
Quite a lot of power here - this is one for those who enjoy a Chardonnay at the oakier end of the spectrum! Ripe fruit like pear, mango and hints of pineapple, mixed with baked lemon and grapefruit. The oak contributes vanilla, bitter and coconut the spectrum of flavours, and the overall feeling is one of richness and depth. Impressive.
California is relegated to third largest state in terms of size by Texas and Alaska, but reigns supreme when it comes to wine production! Not only do they produce more than 90% of all wine made in the USA but they produce more than 30% more than all of Australia put together! This wine comes from the oversight of parent company Winery Exchange, created in 1999 with the sole purpose of finding great vineyards and turning them into modern, approachable wines that people around the world will love. Their portfolio of wines includes the FJ Serra label - serious, high quality wines built for ageing - but also has labels such as King Stag. Arrow Creek and Parkers Estate. Winemaking is overseen by Juan Cerna, a native Californian with roots in the Salinas Valley. After graduating from UC Santa Cruz with a degree in Molecular and Cellular Biology he found his passion for winemaking while working at various wineries across California, and is now seen as something of an expert in central Californian vineyards.

Pairing guide
FJ Serra’s Chardonnay has quickly become a firm favourite here at GPD HQ, and it isn’t difficult to see why - it’s the ideal lunchtime wine, perfect for matching with loads of our favourite dishes. We especially love this wine with richer seafood creations, namely crab or lobster linguine, moules mariniere a la creme, fishcakes, and battered cod. However, it’s a great match for chicken and leek pies, creamy pork pasta dishes, and all-time classics like carbonara. Yum!

Wine region

California, United States
California is a large wine region is located in the United States, known for producing some of the world's most popular and highly-regarded wines. Naturally, the region is located in the state of California, which has a Mediterranean-like climate well-suited to grape growing. The wine-growing area stretches from north to south, with the Napa Valley, Sonoma Valley, and Central Coast being some of the most well-known sub-regions. The first winery in the region was established by Spanish missionaries in 1779, and the wine produced there was used for religious purposes. California is known for producing a wide range of wines, including world-class Cabernet Sauvignon, Chardonnay, and Pinot Noir. Some of the most notable wineries in the region include Napa Valley's Robert Mondavi Winery, Stag's Leap, Sonoma Valley's Jordan Vineyard & Winery and the infamous Ridge Vineyards to the south.
