Details
This Verdejo, Tempranillo Blanco and Viura blend has a bit of everything with lime and steely minerality on the nose with a hint of banana and honeyed tones. The palate has an expressive mid-palate with a touch of ripe peach before the searing acid washes over to finish things off.
Origin: Spain. Mainly Grown In: The central-northern Spanish region of Rueda. Also in small amounts in the USA. Key Facts: Verdejo is the pride and joy of Rueda, in the northern part of Spain. Here it achieves it's ultimate expression - nutty, rich and aromatic. It's a real chameleon of a grape, having some characteristics of Sauvignon Blanc (grassy, high acidity), but also some richer, rounder tones. Look out for complex flavours of bay leaf, almond and lemon. Whilst the acidity can be bright and tangy, there's always plenty of depth to the wines, meaning they have a really lovely texture - soft and even creamy sometimes. A really lovely expression that deserves more attention! Fun Fact: Verdejo grapes originated in North Africa and were brought to Spain around 1100AD.

Pairing guide
We’re huge fans of Verdejo wines here at Good Pair Days, and this elegant and vibrant blend from Fincas de Azabache definitely satisfied our cravings! It’s a great wine for pairing with dishes combining spinach and feta or goat’s cheese, simple pasta recipes, Vietnamese salads and Thai curry and noodle creations, and will also work very well with seafood like prawns, scallops and Moreton Bay bugs. Green vegetables, grilled piri-piri chicken, samosa chaat and other Indian street food, and fish or veggie tacos will also pair very well indeed.
