Details
Pinot Grigio from Hungary, why not?!? This is a bright and vibrant wine, bouncing with green apple liveliness and crunchy pear skin. The finish is just as energetic, which is perfect when you need a wine to set the scene.
Hungary has one of the oldest wine legacies, dating back to the Carpathian period, which grew in prestige as Tokaji became known as the wine of the royals. The Hungarian wine industry has experienced significant growth since the end of the Cold War and is now undergoing a period of modernisation. The wines range from local Furmint to varieties found in both Hungary and Austria, such as Kékfrankos (also known as Blaufränkisch) and Grüner Veltliner. Enter Danubiana, a winery established immediately after the fall of the Soviet Union and quickly expanding into several regions across Hungary. The winery is now one of the largest in Hungary, offering a range of wines, from the funky Crazy Animals series to the more classical Dunavár series. Here, you will find modern varieties such as Merlot and Pinot Noir, as well as Grüner and Blaufränkisch, along with the delightful Pink Chardonnay.
