Details
The Reserve Riesling for Eden Hall is just that - this is easily the best wine that comes off the whole vineyard. The top dog. The headline act. Crafted from a single block that shines every year (hello Block 7), this is a very dry and taut white wine with layers of lime, a hint of toast, and a very firm core of intense citrusy fruit. Power-packed and so refreshing, this is big-time Riesling for the ages.
David & Mardi Hall will be the first to admit that it's a bit cliched they started a vineyard. That's because Dr David is a renowned spinal surgeon, and it seems every surgeon wants to own a vineyard. But the Halls have taken Eden Hall from a passion project into an incredibly impressive operation, all centred around their sustainably farmed 33-hectare vineyard near Springton in the Eden Valley. Actually, sustainable is dropping short, because their picturesque plot is regeneratively managed, with a cover crop of 20 species of plants grown in the vineyard, plus a specially planted insectary and a comprehensive onsite compost program that takes the 'compost heap' to another dimension. Given that it's the Eden Valley, Riesling is king, plus Shiraz, Cabernet Sauvignon and even some Grüner Veltliner too.

Pairing guide
We make no secret of our undying love for quality Riesling wines, and this crisp and dry release from Eden Hall delivers all the zest and zip we could possibly wish for. Like most dry Rieslings, this one is best paired with southeast Asian cuisine - Thai curries, spicy noodles, crispy tofu and balanced salads taking their inspiration from Malaysia, Vietnam and beyond. It’s also going to be great with breaded escalopes, chicken breast dishes and all kinds of white fish, and is also brilliant with soft cheeses, roast poultry and lemon risotto. Nice!
