Details
Please read before drinking - this wine needs air to show how truly beautiful it is! A blend of Pinot Gris and Pinot Meunier, it initially is smoky and shy, but decant or serve in large glasses and swirl enthusiastically, or at the very least leave open for a few hours before drinking. If you do, you'll be rewarded with a beautiful, ethereal wine, full of delicate red fruits and flower petals. Delicate and delicious.

This is a story about a man named Peter. Peter is a winemaker, but really wanted to be a sports star. Peter also likes music, and being a little bit silly. The end result of all of these things together is a wonderful winery named Dr Edge....taken from Peter's surname, Dredge. The wines are brilliant, but don't take themselves seriously, much like Peter. As well as his own clever label, Peter is also the head winemaker at great Tassie estate Meadowbank. Clever chap. For Dr Edge, he takes fruit from all over Tasmania and crafts some wonderful wines. Pinot, Chardonnay and Riesling are all loved, as are more unusual grapes that often don't get the limelight. There's a focus on more savoury notes - the wines have fruit, but it often sits in the shadow of more complex flavours and textures. These are wines of substance and integrity, deliciousness and vitality. Excellent modern Tasmanian wines.

Pairing guide
Pinot Meunier has had a great decade. It’s come out of the shadows of being a blending varietal, and has started to be utilised by innovative winemakers - like Dr Edge - to produce deliciously elegant red wines, more than capable of standing on its own two feet. This gorgeous wine is ideal for pairing with duck breast or duck leg dishes, warming sausage casseroles, beef and lamb stews, and mushroom dishes like stroganoff or wild mushroom bucatini. What’s not to love?

Wine region
East Coast Tasmania, Australia
The majority of Tasmania’s vineyards are positioned on the eastern third of the island and split up into unofficial wine regions. Yet, all wines are labelled Tasmania, so it’s worth getting to know these distinguished regions. Let’s attempt to define the East Coast by wineries! By vineyards, the east coast region starts from the most northern Freycinet Vineyard, Apslawn, 120km south to Bream Creek vineyard. The east coast is home to the most prominent producer Devil’s Corner in Apslawn, owned by Victoria’s Brown Brothers, a bold acquisition made back in 2010. This vineyard acquisition trend has since been followed by the likes of Domaine A, Shaw + Smith, and Yalumba. As the climate changes, everyone from the mainland wants a piece of Tasmania, the literal (and figuratively speaking) coolest part of Australia, home to the freshest Chardonnay, Riesling, and Pinot Noir this country has to offer!
