Details
Syrah gets overlooked a little in Margaret River thanks to the quality of the Chardonnay and Cab Sav, but this wine shows us that in the right hands, it can be just as entrancing. Gorgeously perfumed aromas of spicy plum and a little hint of violet. Smooth and textured with boysenberry, pepper and ripe tannins.
After 25 years of wine making experience at the top wine producers in the Margaret River and the Napa Valley, Bruce Dukes decided it was time to make wine on his terms. So in 2000 he did just that and Naturaliste Vintners was born. And it didn't take long for his supreme wine making talents to be recognised; Bruce was awarded “Best WA Winemaker” by Wines of Western Australia in 2011! But Bruce doesn't just have a commercially green thumb, with a Agricultural Science Degree and a Viticulture Masters as well as numerous published scientific articles he has the wine brains to back it up. Named after the Leeuwin-Naturaliste Ridge that runs along the eastern edge of the Margaret River region, his estate is now one of the leaders in the region.

Pairing guide
Balanced, complex, and delicious, this Syrah from Domaine Naturaliste brings an almost Mediterranean character to the table, which gives more than a hint at the kinds of dishes that will pair best with this bold and memorable red. It’s going to love being paired with well-herbed meat dishes, like Greek-style lamb or chicken thighs, or Moroccan stews. It would also be fantastic with Southern French fare like a cassoulet, or confit duck with bitter greens. Bean burgers and beef burgers would work well at a barbecue, as would smoked seitan for the vegans and racks of ribs for those of a carnivorous disposition!
