Details
There's a great contrast in this superb rosé - on the one hand, there's a flush of red berry and peach fruit that is so pretty, soft and inviting. It just pulls you in with that pinkness. Yet this is still a light, crisp and snappy wine underneath to keep things so very fresh. Such an impressive wine here that feels like exactly what you want the ideal rosé to taste like.

Bandol, in Provence, is famously one of the oldest appellations (i.e. wine regions) in France, with a long, proud legacy largely built on dead serious reds, textural whites and some of the finest pink wines on the planet. At Domaine La Suffrène, Cédric Gravier carries forward a rich legacy, with his family farming 52 acres of prime Bandol vineyards for generations. However, the grapes from his family's property were all sold to a cooperative, getting lost among large-volume blends from the region. In 1996, Cédric, then 23 years old, took control of the vineyards and set about making changes. He exited the co-op, ditched chemical fertilisers (with the vineyards achieving full organic certification in 2018) and started releasing wines under the La Suffrène label. In the years since, these wines have climbed up the quality totem pole to be real superstars. Led by modern but classic reds and rosé with a smattering of whites (and even a Pet Nat), the La Suffrène wines are eye-catching and delicious.
