Details
The ‘Sphere’ Grenache is a bright delight with ripe cherries and red berries that fill the mouth along with a hint of spice, finishing off with some mouthfilling tannins.
Domaine Gayda is located on the main route between Toulouse and Carcassonne and when visiting the winery, you may be confused into thinking you have travelled through a portal to Stellenbosch or the Barossa. Here you aren’t visiting a French winery where you are about as welcome as a mormon on Grand Final day, you are offered a cellar door experience, a winery fitted with cute Citroen cars and a restaurant with stunning food alongside equally stunning views of the Pyrenees. The winery is the hard work of two partners, Tim (British) and Anthony (South African) and together, they have produced the perfect mix of old world meets new world. The wines incorporate local stories like Flying Solo, which tell tales of the 1920s postmen who flew from Toulouse to Spain to deliver mail in single engine deathtraps as well as the famous Chemin de Moscou which has become a true bellwether of the region. The wines showcase regionality of the Languedoc mixed with clean bottles and plenty of personality.

Pairing guide
Here's a juicy, silky wine, bursting with red fruit charm. Made in a lighter, fresher style, this is Grenache that leans into vibrancy over heaviness, with notes of raspberry, cherry, soft spice, and a touch of earthiness. It’s incredibly food-friendly and perfect for dishes that are flavourful but not too rich. Pair it with grilled lamb chops with rosemary and garlic, a smoky eggplant and tomato bake, or even a mushroom and ricotta lasagna. The wine’s bright acidity and soft tannins also make it a natural fit for spiced dishes—try Moroccan chicken skewers, harissa-roasted veg, or cumin-scented lentil stews.

Languedoc, France
The Languedoc wine region is located in the south of France, in the Languedoc-Roussillon region. It is the largest wine-producing region in France and is known for its wide variety of wine styles, including red, white, rosé, and sparkling. As a younger region, Languedoc has less restrictive wine growing laws making it a virtual oasis for progressive winemakers. As a result, you may find many innovative, even atypical blends in this region, that represent excellent value. Of the numerous varieties available in Languedoc Grenache, Syrah, Carignan, Cinsault, Mourvèdre, and Viognier are the stand outs. Top producers are known showcasing the unique character of the Languedoc region, including Mas de Daumas Gassac, Château de Saint-Martin, Mas Jullien, and Château d'Angles.
