Details
This is great value and wonderful wine that displays the very essence of Pinot Noir - bright red fruit, a soft supple texture with crunchy acidity and just a hint of spice. On the nose, the wine shows aromas of black and red berries, like cherry and raspberry, mixed with cola and liquorice. Hints of rose petal and dried leaves round out the package.

Domaine Dupré was founded in the early 1950s, with only 3 hectare of vines, along with cereals and livestock. Safe to say that making high quality wine wasn't the sole intention of the Dupré family! By 1990 however, when current steward of the domaine Jean-Christophe joined his father, they farmed 12 hectares of vineyards. Fast forward to today, and that has grown to 26 hectares, after purchasing multiple neighbouring properties. Despite being located in the less famous Maconnais region of Burgundy, in the south, these wines punch well above their weight. The vines average 45 years of age and are planted on ideal clay-limestone soils, the same as found in many more “prestigious” Burgundian sites. The combination of the relatively cool microclimate and the ideal soil and exposition allows the Duprés to harvest late, enhancing the wine’s complexity and richness.

Pairing guide
Ah, Pinot Noir. Where would we be without you? This deliciously elegant and easy-drinking red from Dupré provides a truly classic taste sensation, and it’s a wine which is about as food-friendly and versatile as it’s possible to be. It’s probably most effective served with pink lamb dishes and rare duck breast, but you’ll get superb results from beetroot dishes, classic beef stews, homemade burgers, and roasted root vegetables. Seared tuna steak is never a bad option with this wine, and Italian-style bean casseroles, tomato pasta sauces, and family favourites like cottage pie and lasagna will also do very nicely indeed.

Wine region
Burgundy, France
Burgundy is located east between Paris and the Swiss border and is known for producing some of the finest and most sought-after wines (Chardonnay and Pinot Noir) in the world. The region can be divided into the following sub-regions from north to south: Chablis, Côte d'Or, Côte Chalonnaise, and Mâconnais, with parts Beaujolais to the south now under consideration. Chablis is located north of the Côte d'Or and is known for its crisp, dry white wines made from Chardonnay, made without the influence of oak. Some of the best domaines in Chablis include William Fèvre and Christian Moreau. The Côte d'Or is the heart of the Burgundy wine region and is divided into two main areas: the Côte de Nuits and the Côte de Beaune. The Côte de Nuits is known for its red wines, while the Côte de Beaune is known for its white wines. The best domaines in the Côte d'Or include Domaine de la Romanée-Conti and Domaine Georges Roumier! Mâconnais and often overlooked Côte Chalonnaise produces red and white wines. Some of the best domaines in these regions include Domaine Bouchard Père et Fils and Domaine Jean-Jacques Girard.
