Details
Don't judge this beauty by its lovely Grenache blend just by its perfume. Made Grenache along with grape mates Cinsault and the less popular Counoise, all grown on sandy soils, this wine is initially all red-fruited charm - it’s seriously pretty on the nose. But wait! Beneath that elegant exterior is a hidden punch of serious fruit and earthy depth. It’s spicy, long, and intense, and it loves a good dance. Give it a hearty swirl and watch it unfold its delicious layers as you drink.

Carlo la Rocca is the effervescent winemaker behind L'Agramente, and is a young star in the ascendancy. He is a Sicilian by birth and left a successful career as a petrochemical engineer in favour of the rabbit hole that is wine! His vines are at 250 metres altitude above the town of Orange, in the foothills of the Cévennes mountains amongst patches of scented scrub and wildflowers. He organically farms a little less than five hectares of bush vines, growing Grenache, Cinsault, Syrah, and the relatively obscure Counoise. He works organically, and will be certified as such in the coming years. The wines display a light touch, without fully giving up the regional leaning towards power and dustiness. Wonderfully balanced, they're a lovely expression of the Southern Rhône.

Pairing guide
Bringing together a mix of classic Rhône Valley varieties, this luscious blend based on Grenache absolutely hits the spot when it comes to dinner time. You’ll want to bring out your full range of Mediterranean herbs and spices for this wine - rosemary, thyme, parsley, and basil are pretty much a must. It’s a great barbecue wine, loves being paired with rich stews and meaty braises, will pair beautifully with roast poultry, and is also a decent option for tomato-based Indian curries, Moroccan lamb tagines, and dishes which make a star ingredient of olives.
