Details
The ‘Gavatx’ is a Grenache, Carignan blend grown on granitic soils in the heart of Roussillon. This is a true expression of the local terroir, with dark raspberries and strawberries washing over the tension of the granite soil. A great expression of hands-off winemaking.
Clot de l'Oum is the hard work of two brothers, Eddy and Arthur Bertrand, who produce stunning wines from the heart of the Fenouillèdes region, in the foothills of the eastern Pyrenees. The brothers are generational farmers, growing up on the land, and now, as adults, are hoping to impart their experiences into honest bottles of wine. They are definitely artisanal in their approach and make only a few wines under the Clot de l'Oum label. The brothers own and operate a 10-hectare vineyard, which has been managed organically since 2003 and biodynamically since 2021. The vineyard, which has all the classic southern French varietals, is planted at an altitude between 400m and 600m above sea level and sits on schist and granitic soils. The beautiful thing about these wines is that the terroir can be found in each wine, and with a hands-off approach to winemaking, you can be transported to the Roussillon in one sip.

Pairing guide
Richer and more structured, Gavatx combines Grenache with Carignan and Syrah to deliver depth, spice, and a savoury backbone. It pairs wonderfully with robust fare — slow-braised beef cheeks, cassoulet, or roast duck with cherries. Its dark fruit and herbal notes also complement grilled eggplant, wild mushroom dishes, or hearty stews. Aged cheeses like Comté or manchego make excellent partners too. For a relaxed meal, try it with BBQ meats or pizza topped with chorizo and peppers. This is Roussillon in full voice, generous, earthy, and full of soul.

Wine region

Roussillon, France
The sunny Roussillon wine region, located in the southernmost part of France, is known for its bold and complex wines and fortifieds. The key varieties here are Grenache, Syrah, Merlot and Carignan in reds, while Grenache Blanc, Picpoul, and Roussanne are popular whites. As well as bold fruit-driven table wines, Roussillon produces notable fortified wines from Grenache and other local grape varieties in sub-regions Collioure, Banyuls, Rivesaltes, and Maury. Key wine producers in the region include Domaine Gauby, Domaine de la Rectorie, and Domaine Olivier Pithon. Beyond wine, visitors can also enjoy the region's stunning natural beauty, rich cultural heritage, and Mediterranean cuisine.
