Details
The Sauvignon Blanc from Deux Moulins comes from a single vineyard site in the subregion of Brissac-Quincé, south of the Loire River, not far from the city of Angers. It is a cracking wine, straddling the divide between old and new world, with plenty of upfront fruit and then morphing into succulent, racy acidity. Citrus and passionfruit aromatics lead into a lovely texture, green mango, citrus pith, and a hint of jalapeño spice. Superb.
The Deux Moulins wines come about from a coming together of some great wine minds. The architect of the project is Josh Adler, a wine importer who lived in Burgundy for a couple of years and caught the wine bug in a big way. After a short stint leading bicycle tours in French wine regions, he worked as the wine director at Bi-Rite Market in San Francisco and Restaurant Spring in Paris before starting Paris Wine Company in 2012. Here he collaborates with graphic artist Matthieu David, a key figure in the Paris Wine Company family, as well as Loire Vally winemaker Frederic Moreau. The style is authentic to the Loire Valley, using only Sauvignon Blanc and Pinot Noir from sustainably managed vineyards. Adler uses his network of connections, developed in Paris, to get in touch with great grape growers and bottle these under the radar wines. They're designed to be an easy, everyday wine, but they far surpass that, offering a great combination of fruit, freshness and deliciousness. Excellent drinking.

Pairing guide
When it comes to food-friendly white wines, they don’t come much more versatile than this stunning Sauvignon Blanc from Deux Moulins. Like most wines of this style, this bottle is going to be absolutely superb with dishes which celebrate the flavour of seasonal green vegetables. Garden peas, asparagus, artichoke, broccoli, kale… if it’s green and comes out of the ground, it’s likely to be a great fit. White fish, simply cooked and served with a buttery sauce or a squeeze of lemon, is also going to be great, and it’s a real winner with grilled chicken breast and goats’ cheese creations, too.
